Competitive parents should stop making children take piano lesson and play sport as turfing them out into the garden for unstructured play as it makes them better at achieving goals, according to a new study.
The research, conducted by the Univeristy of Colorado, found that playing outside and going on sightseeing trips can boost the chances of educational success of children.
However, children who spend more time in structured activities such as football practice, piano lessons and homework – which are often activities that parents are keen for their children to do – had poorer ability to set and reach goals. Full article
