This publication has been produced as a result of a partnership between the National Playing Fields Association (NPFA), PLAYLINK and the Children’s Play Council (CPC). Best Play is a response to a number of pressing issues within the field of children’s play. Most importantly, this publication shows that a body of knowledge has accumulated which allows the fundamental need for children’s play to be asserted, bringing with it a commitment to the view that there should be public provision of high quality environments suitable for play. The consultation process leading to the publication of Best Play has shown that playworkers and service providers look forward to the identification and dissemination of best practice as a means of giving recognition to the value and quality of their work.
